چکیده

To achieve the stated goals we are conducting experiments on several levels. Data pertaining to the following areas are presented in this report. • Determination of the minimum variability in visual assessment of small color differences in textile samples via the first international replication study. • Assessment of key variables in the textile supply chain and the generation of a fishbone diagram. • Assessment of lighting in standard viewing booths and retail stores. Additional data were reported in the 2004 and 2005 annual report. The following work has been completed in the last 12 months. 1. Assessment of key variables in the textile supply chain pertaining to color control has been completed, and an initial fishbone diagram has been developed. 2. Three statistically valid replications of a conventional gray scale visual color difference experiment and statistical analysis has been completed. 3. Assessment of a set of color difference pairs using a pair comparison test has been completed. 4. Assessment of the scope and limitations of a custom statistical formula, originally developed for visual and instrumental assessment of color differences of object colors, called performance factor (PF/3), has been completed. 5. A unique relatively large area (2 inches by 2 inches) gray scale has been constructed to enable optimum viewing area control, and to compare the influence of gray scale area size on variability in visual assessments. 6. Since submitting the 2005 NTC Annual Report we have presented four conference papers [1-4], two symposium posters [5,6], as well as a 2006 NTC Forum poster, which won ‘Best Poster’ prize for the Chemistry section. To date, this brings to nine the total publications for this project [1-9].

Optimizing a reverse supply chain including transportation, operation, maintenance and remanufacturing costs

Reverse supply chain is a process dealing with the backward flows of used/damaged products or materials. Reverse supply chain includes activities such as collection, inspection, reprocess, disposal and redistribution. A well-organized reverse supply chain can provide important advantages such as economic and environmental ones. In this study, we propose a general framework and formulate a m...

Optimizing Diamond Structured Automobile Supply Chain Network Towards a Robust Business Continuity Management

This paper presents an optimized diamond structured automobile supply chain network towards a robust Business Continuity Management model. The model is necessitated by the nature of the automobile supply chain. Companies in tier two are centralized and numerically limited and have to supply multiple tier one companies with goods and services. The challenge with this supply chain structure is th...

Optimizing pricing and ordering strategies in a three-level supply chain under return policy

This paper develops an economic production quantity model in a three-echelon supply chain composing of a supplier, a manufacturer and a wholesaler under two scenarios. As the first scenario, we consider a return contract between the outside supplier and the supplier and also between the manufacturer and the wholesaler, but in the second one, the return policy between the manufacturer and the wh...

Optimizing decentralized production–distribution planning problem in a multi-period supply chain network under uncertainty

Decentralized supply chain management is found to be significantly relevant in today’s competitive markets. Production and distribution planning is posed as an important optimization problem in supply chain networks. Here, we propose a multi-period decentralized supply chain network model with uncertainty. The imprecision related to uncertain parameters like demand and price of the final produc...

Optimizing Bi-Objective Multi-Commodity Tri-Echelon Supply Chain Network

The competitive market and declined economy have increased the relevant importance of making supply chain network efficient. This has created many motivations to reduce the cost of services, and simultaneously, to increase the quality of them. The network as a tri-echelon one consists of Suppliers, Warehouses or Distribution Centers (DCs), and Retailer nodes. To bring the problem closer to real...
